‍♂️ Enten London Social Update! ‍♀️

Following on from the trip to Lisbon the other week, here’s a quick update on some cool events we went to in London over the last week:

Robert Haritonov’s React Advanced London meetup where we heard from Salmen Hichri on building UI interfaces using NLUX and Faris Aziz on Next.js, React Query and Backend for Frontend (BFF), and also a couple of lightning talks from Rachel Lee Nabors on managing team issues and myself intro-ing the Enten model. This was a really cool, in-depth, well attended and technical meetup.

A SurrealDB Security panel talk with Oscar Merry of Fountain and Tobie Morgan Hitchcock and the SurrealDB team — as always, an excellent event from these guys who have some really innovative database tech.

A really interesting and rewarding talk from André Croft de Moura on his entrepreneurial journey with BladeInsight as well as his new venture that’s currently in stealth mode.

The Indie London IndieBeers meetup at the Bricklayers Arms where there was plenty of talk of interesting projects including a tool for providing super up-to-date and accurate translations of news originally reported in Kurdish and Farsi (Alexander Bushe 📊), an AI-facilitated team health dashboard (Zandre Coetzer), a new AI search engine for online communities (Matin Mahmood), a tool for booking time at hotel spas and pools (Adrian Serban), Rob Cahill’s breathwork consultancy, and Bind — a new tool to create unified communities involving an organisation and its users on Discord (Rory Hughes).

🤔 A few thoughts on the London tech scene compared to Lisbon — it’s bigger, of course, and there’s a sense of it being faster and more commercial. It’s more male-heavy too but not necessarily macho or anything too -ve with it. There’s also a sense of it being a bit more diffuse and so perhaps, oddly, lacking the concentration and sense of community in Lisbon. 🤔
